Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Virtual private network or VPN is abbreviated as another variation of the scheme of the network that was built as a special network using public Internet network. Because using the Internet network, a company that makes a WAN (Wide Area Network)-based VPN is able to reach a very wide area and across geography. VPN connections provide point-to-point to both the branch office or to an employee who was on duty elsewhere.

Connecting between the head office / branch by using a VPN is much more economical with reliable security rather than hire a special network (leased lines) or with long distance calls via modem.

VPN can be a special network and is not limited. A special WAN far more efficient, safe and economical cost than traditional WAN or LAN. So have many companies that use the VPN as jaringanya infrastructure that connects between head office and branches with the agent and his client.

There is no specific standard for VPN, but in general can be called that VPN uses the public Internet network to one or several purposes to form a special hall (a special network / tunneling) virtually.

In the use of a particular network, the VPN is set in such a way with a software and hardware with a particular protocol to be used for authentication between the user and for network encryption. Generally VPN firewall installed near the server that serves to filter so that only clients who have registered is actually served.

VPN divided into 2 parts, namely the "in" protected with a password system specific and the "outside" which is the Internet infrastructure that is not protected. Protecting data with encryption for travel between users in a VPN has been very popular and always used.
