Tajweed by language derived from the word for good or smarten. In science qiraah, Tajweed means out letters from his place by giving the properties owned. So the science of recitation is a science that studies how to pronounce sounds or letters contained in the holy book the Koran or not.
The issues raised in this science is makharijul letter (place and out of the letters), shifatul letters (pronunciation letters), ahkamul letter (relationship between letters), ahkamul maddi wal qasr (long and short words), ahkamul waqaf wal ibtida '(start and stop reading) and al-Khat al-Ottoman.
This is what is meant by reading the Koran with Tartil as his word which means: "Read the Koran it with Tartil". Meanwhile, according to Ibn Kathir Tartil meaning is read slowly and carefully because it will help the understanding and contemplation of the Qur'an.
Tajweed Science aims to provide guidance on how to correct pronunciation of the verse, so the pronunciation and meaning is preserved. Knowledge of makhraj letter provides guidance on how to remove the letters from the mouth properly. Knowledge of the nature of the letter is useful in pronunciation letters. In ahkamul maddi wal qashr useful to know which should be read in a long letter and how long vowel reading. Ahkamul waqaf wal ibtida 'is a way to know where to stop and from which started when the readings will be continued.
